The flag of Des Moines, Iowa was designed by Walter T. Proctor and is a simple representation of Des Moines 3 oldest bridges: Locust, Grand, and Walnut Avenues. Its color palette is meant to mimic the United States flag and after "disappearing" for a while, it finally became the city flag once more in 2019.
